Overview
As part of our semester project, we got the opportunity to simulate founding a startup from scratch. Our team created Lime Lime, a start-up focused on improving user experience in Graz.
Our target was the TIM app, a car-sharing service that has lots of potential, but just as many usability issues. We dug into user experiences, analyzed the booking process and discovered the pain points that were stopping people from using the service more often.
Process
Startup Creation
Before diving into the UX challenge, we had to establish Lime Lime as a startup. This included defining our mission, building a brand identity, designing print materials like business cards and even launching a basic website all aligned with Austrian company formation requirements.
The Challenge – Improving TIM
Our core mission: to identify problems in the TIM app and create actionable solutions.
Through interviews, usability testing and process analysis, we found that users were often frustrated with key touchpoints: especially when registering, booking and unlocking vehicles. These moments caused confusion and friction, leading many users to avoid using the app altogether.
Design Process
We started with research into similar mobility platforms abroad and gathered feedback from real users through interviews and testing. Then we converted our findings into paper prototypes, which helped us map out new flows and refine them quickly. The final output was a comprehensive UX guide paired with a high-fidelity Figma prototype, showing how TIM’s user journey could be more accessible, intuitive and easy.
Final Thoughts
This project blended everything I love a tough problem, collaborative teamwork and the challenge of designing something that could actually help people.
It also pushed me out of the digital comfort zone into branding and business strategy and at the same time deepened my UX process skills. Presenting our concept to the full cohort was a great moment. It felt real, exciting and meaningful.
Designing with purpose is something I’ll never get tired of.
