Overview
This project was about rebuilding the website of a small startup from the ground up. We decided to move away from WordPress and switch to Webflow, mainly to improve the site’s speed, responsiveness, content clarity and accessibility.
The goal was to create something that’s minimalistic, friendly and still professional. Especially since the brand was shifting focus from B2C to B2B.
Process
The Brief
The original site had a lot of issues: slow loading times, messy layout, responsiveness problems and confusing content. On top of that, it was hard to maintain and not very accessible - so we wanted a complete overhaul.
Research & Evaluation
I started with a thorough audit of the existing WordPress site and quickly saw where things were going wrong:
- Bad performance
- Cluttered layout
- No real structure for different devices
- Accessibility barriers for keyboard users and screen readers
Design & Development
To solve these issues, I switched to Webflow and used Relume to help build a clean sitemap and wireframe structure. From there, I created individual pages, designed for both usability and accessibility and built the full layout in Webflow.
The design system I created is now used across other areas of the startup too. It’s all consistent, easy to develop more and clear.
Final Thoughts
This project was a passion project. Making websites more accessible and easier to use is something I really care about, it’s a small but important step toward a more inclusive digital world.
This project took time and a lot of decision-making, but I’m happy with where it’s heading. The new site is faster, clearer and more thoughtful in its design and it fits the startup’s new direction perfectly.
The launch is planned for June.
