Overview
This project was part of an internal competition within our year group: we were challenged to create part of an audio guide for the Klanglicht 2023 festival in Graz.
Each exhibition at the festival featured its own QR code, which led visitors to a audio interview, giving them insight into the artist’s vision and process. Our team’s guide was chosen as one of the winners and it was featured live at the event.
Process
The Brief
We were asked to create an informative and atmospheric audio guide for a selected Klanglicht exhibition. The piece was accessible via QR code on-site.
The Interview
Together with my team, we conducted an interview with artist David Reumüller about his work, approach and the message behind his piece.
I then cut the recording, filtered for clarity and rhythm and rearranged the segments to create a guide that felt natural.
Production & Testing
Using Audition, I cleaned up the voice tracks, adjusted pacing and ensured the final guide had a consistent tone.
Final Thoughts
This project got me a little out of my comfort zone - but in the best way. Working with voice and sound gave me a whole new appreciation for audio.
It was incredibly rewarding to hear our piece live at Klanglicht and know that people were engaging with something we had crafted.
After this project (and others during my Information Design studies), I’ve discovered that I really enjoy working with sound and I definitely want to explore more in this space.
